About

Small Stories for a Brighter World

TUGI Books creates gentle, beautifully illustrated stories that help young children explore friendship, kindness, courage, honesty, gratitude, love, and the many small choices that make the world brighter.

At the heart of our stories is Tugi—a curious little elf with a warm heart, a red hat, and plenty still to learn. Through the Little Red Door, children and their grown-ups enter the Whispering Forest, where every adventure brings a new friend, a meaningful discovery, and a little everyday magic.

Created for Sharing

Our short, comforting stories are designed for children ages 3–7 and the adults who read with them. They are available in English and German and created for cozy family reading, quiet classroom moments, and meaningful conversations.

Tugi’s stories are created especially for preschool and early-elementary-age children. They feature: Gentle, reassuring storytelling; Short, manageable read-aloud adventures; Meaningful themes children can understand; Warm illustrations filled with details to discover; Conversation starters for families and classrooms; and English and German editions. The stories never ask children to be perfect. Instead, they show that everyone can learn, make mistakes, try again, and make the world a brighter place.

Meet the Creator

Tugi and his world were created by author and illustrator Jolanda Garcia. Her stories invite children to notice how friendship, helping, and kindness can begin with something very small. Jolanda Garcia has spent nearly four decades combining education, creativity, and design. She began her career as a kindergarten teacher in Switzerland before moving to the United States to study design. She later worked as a lead content designer for Lightspan Inc. and went on to create educational materials for KidsSoup.com as an owner and preschool and kindergarten content specialist. Through TUGI Books, she now brings that experience to warm, imaginative stories for young children.

Our Creative Process

The Tugi stories, characters, and visual world were created and developed by Jolanda Garcia. Original writing, artwork, creative direction, digital tools, and AI-assisted production were used throughout the creative process. Every story and illustration was carefully reviewed, refined, and finalized by Jolanda.
